Our Mission
A page is a safe space for us to express and come to terms with those emotions we cannot speak.
We believe art and writing can help bring some consolation to trauma. SeePTSD strives to help trauma survivors see their pain transform from within them to something tangible, meaningful, and beautiful.
About
SeePTSD is a youth-led literary magazine and safe community for survivors of PTSD and complex PTSD to use art and writing to cope with trauma. Several studies have proven the arts to be effective ways for trauma survivors to express painful emotions and memories. SeePTSD hopes to shed light on healthy coping mechanisms in the darkest of times.
Whether a short journal entry or an autobiography, everyone uses art to cope differently, and SeePTSD welcomes visual art, prose, poetry, and more to be published in our quarterly issues and website. The objective of these publications is to build a community of survivors who can relate to the emotions found in one another’s art.
Our History
“In July of 2022, I was involved in a traumatic accident, resulting in a three-inch laceration on my forehead. Since that day, trauma has followed me in the forms of flashbacks, nightmares, and many other challenges PTSD poses.
Fortunately, I was able to use my passion for creative writing to help cope with these unwanted memories. I’ve been writing poetry for many years now, and it has allowed me to express these complex emotions.
I believe writing has been the most beneficial form of healing for me, and I want to share this coping mechanism with other survivors.”
